Justice for Families is a national group comprised of local organizations committed to ending the youth incarceration epidemic. Founded and run by families who have experienced the juvenile justice system with their children; J4F divides their time against two primary goals: 1) Giving families a voice and power over what decisions are made and 2) Redirecting resources away from youth incarceration and toward communities most affected.
Prison Policy Initiative was founded in 2001 to document and publicize how mass incarceration undermines our national welfare. Their work casts a wide net, with campaigns to end prison gerrymandering, stop corrupt prison and jail telephone practices, protect the right to receive letters from loved ones and abolish sentencing enhancement zones. Driven by the belief that empowering the public with tools and data will ultimately help improve criminal justice policy.
