inMotion

The Mission

Each year, inMotion helps thousands of low-income women in New York City free themselves from abuse and secure the justice they deserve by providing free legal services in the areas of matrimonial, family and immigration law.

  • inMotion recruits, trains, and mentors volunteer lawyers from top corporate law firms to represent women in cases dealing with matrimonial, family and immigration law.
  • Last year inMotion’s small legal staff of 18 delivered more than 110,000 hours of free legal service to women - the equivalent of 55 full-time legal professionals.

There are few places that women can go to when they need help and don’t have money, but for women in the New York City area, they have inMotion. For the last 20 years, they have been recruiting and training lawyers from major law firms to represent these women in court.

With approximately 2,700 volunteers, inMotion is able to provide free legal counsel and support three different areas of law: family, matrimonial and immigration. With your help and support, inMotion can provide quality legal assistance to the women that need it most.

Domestic Violence Survivor Support
JBWS

JBWS offers a variety of support services including safe housing, victim and family counseling, support in obtaining restraining orders and an intervention program for batterers to ensure women in domestic violence situations are properly supported.

RAINN

Support for Sexual Assault Victims
RAINN

As the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, The Rape Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) focuses on providing support services to sexual violence survivors. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline where victims can find support, day or night.
